In a peculiar incident that took place on August 30th, a 25-year-old woman from Miami is now facing a series of charges after making off with an ambulance from the parking lot of HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital. This audacious act unfolded while the culprit was seated outside the hospital, still dressed in her hospital gown.
Ambulance Theft in Action: Seizing the Opportunity
As per the Port St. Lucie Police Department’s report, the opportune moment for Allen arose as ambulance personnel were inside the hospital, occupied with dropping off a patient. Exploiting this brief lapse in attention, Allen made her move and commandeered the ambulance. Little did she know that the ambulance she had taken was equipped with a GPS tracker, a detail that would soon prove her downfall.
GPS Tracking Leads to Capture: Stuck in Traffic on the Turnpike
The presence of the GPS tracker allowed law enforcement agencies to quickly pinpoint Allen’s location. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) took up the task of locating the stolen ambulance, which was found ensnared in traffic on the Turnpike. As FHP Troopers closed in on Allen, she exited the stolen ambulance in a desperate attempt to escape. Nevertheless, her efforts were in vain, as law enforcement personnel apprehended her after a brief foot pursuit.
Legal Consequences: Arrest and Pending Charges
Following her capture, she was placed under arrest by the Florida Highway Patrol. Subsequently, she was transported to the Martin County Jail, where she now faces several charges. These include providing false information to the police, driving with a suspended license, and resisting arrest without violence. Additional charges from the Port St. Lucie Police Department are also anticipated as the investigation unfolds.
