The announcement was made from an Ocala Publix outlet, which is one of the Publix grocery store pharmacies where the COVID-19 vaccine shots will be offered. Other Publix pharmacies include stores in the counties of Citrus, Hernando, and Marion.

According to COVID vaccination information available on the Publix website, a total of 22 Publix locations will offer coronavirus vaccination while supplies last.  According to the Vice President of Publix Pharmacies, Dain Rusk, approximately 120 will be vaccinated daily by appointment only. Publix joins worship centers in efforts to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine quickly in order to prevent losses and help contain the spread of the coronavirus.
