Fatal Crash on Florida Turnpike

An accident involving a semi-truck leads to death of SUV passenger.

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Investigators at the Florida Highway Patrol are looking into the cause of a crash that ended in the death of a passenger in a Ford SUV. The accident happened yesterday morning near University Drive along the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike. According to initial reports, the accident involved a semi-truck, which was located in the vicinity of the accident site and had evident damage to the front-end, apparently caused by a front-end collision with the vehicle driven by a 26-year-old, who had exited the vehicle prior to the collision. Sadly, his passenger, a 20 year-old-man, died from the injuries sustained by the rear-ended impact of the semi-truck, which propelled the SUV into the concrete wall medium along the paved shoulder. What led to the accident is still unknown but it’s clear that the SUV had been stopped in the center lane when it was struck by the semi-truck.
