HIALEAH: A driver crashed into a popular sandwich shop in Hialeah, Florida, causing significant damage to its front window. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Subway location near West 49th Street and 12th Lane.
A witness described hearing a loud thundering crash and stated that all he heard was a bam! Cellphone video footage by onlookers captured the aftermath, showing shattered glass, debris, and smoke inside the building. The witness was visiting from the Bahamas for a business trip, recounted being inside the Subway with his wife when the SUV collided with his rental van before crashing into the shop.
Employees boarded up the shop during the evening to keep the premises safe from potential looters and other unwanted guests. The witness mentioned that the driver of the SUV received medical treatment at the scene and was able to walk away from the accident scene without major injuries. The witness commented that he felt that the driver was lucky to be alive and thanked God that this accident didn’t end tragically. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by local authorities.
