HOLLYWOOD: A mass shooting took place at the Hollywood Broadwalk in Florida on Memorial Day, resulting in the injury of nine individuals, four of whom were minors.
The City of Hollywood confirmed that the victims, ranging in age from 1 to 65, were taken to nearby hospitals. One person is undergoing surgery, while the others are in stable condition. Witnesses reported chaotic scenes as people fled the area. The incident originated from a confrontation between two groups, which escalated into gunfire. A suspect has been detained, and authorities are searching for another individual. Some of the wounded were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Witnesses recounted seeing a baby with a gunshot wound to the leg. Tourists who were present at the scene described the distressing sight of injured individuals receiving aid. The Mayor of Hollywood expressed gratitude to the emergency responders for their swift actions. Law enforcement personnel, including police officers, unmarked vehicles, and crime scene and rescue vehicles, were present in the area. Authorities closed off certain roads and established a large perimeter. The public is advised to avoid the Hollywood Beach area as the investigation continues. A reunification area has been set up, and access to Hollywood Beach has been restricted. The shooting occurred in the vicinity of the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort on the 1200 block of N. Broadwalk.
