In Miami, Jonathan Perazzo, founder and personal injury attorney at the Perazzo Law Firm,  knows that suffering a personal injury accident can affect the accident victim’s life in many ways. Sadly, many times, the accident and injuries can affect the lives of the accident victim’s family and friends. Whenever an accident that results in severe personal injury, medical bills and expenses will start pouring-in as medical professionals and healthcare facilities want to get paid for their services just as quickly as the accident victim wants to recover.

The first thing an accident victim should do, regardless of the type of accident, is seek advice from an experienced and dedicated personal injury lawyer, who will guide the accident victim through the legal process. Most often, the at-fault party will have insurance with which to cover the accident victim’s losses. However, insurance companies are in the business of making money, and thus, their insurance adjusters will find ways to either not pay, or offer settlements that fall short of covering the accident victim’s losses. That is why, it is important to hire the right lawyer to handle your claim and fight for the settlement the accident victim deserves.

If you are a registered motor vehicle owner in the State of Florida, Jonathan Perazzo, founder and personal injury lawyer at the Perazzo Law Firm, reminds you that PIP insurance is mandatory in Florida. However, that could all change very soon if Gov. DeSantis signs the bill that would compel registered motor vehicle owners to carry BI (Bodily Injury Insurance), which is seen by many as a good move because it favors car accident victims and helps them obtain coverage for bodily injury medical expenses incurred in a motor vehicle accident. But what about UM (Uninsured Motorist) insurance? According to Jonathan Perazzo, a highly dedicated car accident lawyer in Miami, UM insurance should be mandatory for all registered motor vehicle owners.

Here’s what Jonathan had to say about the change from PIP to BI:

BUILDING OPERATOR AND OWNERS BEING SUED FOR DAMAGES

Tampa Bay: A Tallahassee apartment complex was the site of a murder last November, and now the owners and operators are being sued by the victim’s mother. Though murder and negligence encompass two different areas of law, this particular case involves premises liability, which is handled by a personal injury attorney. On February 2, the victim’s mother filed suit against the property owners/operators for the alleged lack of safety measures which may have prevented the murder of her son on said premises. Apparently, the apartment complex is located amid areas known for crime and the property owners and operators failed to provide proper surveillance and security to protect against criminal activity such as burglary, theft, and murder. The premises liability claim, if successful, will award the victim’s mother and his surviving two-year son $60,000 and will serve to help tenants who have fallen victim to crime due to the negligence of building owners and operators.
