Tow trucks are a common sight in Miami, assisting stranded motorists or clearing highways and streets from unmovable vehicles involved in accidents. However, while they provide a necessary service, they can also be involved in accidents resulting in personal injury, property damage, or wrongful death. Tow truck operators often work under hostile conditions, which can be exacerbated by poor weather conditions. It is crucial that tow trucks and operators are properly equipped to carry out their duties. According to Florida Law, tow trucks operating on Miami highways and streets must be in proper working order, and tow-truck operators must be trained and experienced in handling a variety of towing situations. Tow-truck operators must also follow a set protocol, including allocating reflective materials and lighting to warn oncoming traffic and ensuring the vehicle’s lights and hydraulic systems are working correctly. Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the safety of tow trucks operating on Miami roadways and city streets and to reduce the risk of accidents that may hold the tow-truck operator, owner, or insurance provider liable for any personal injury, property damage, or loss on behalf of an accident victim.
