Arrest Made in Connection with Reckless Shooting Incident During Illegal Intersection Takeover in Northwest Miami-Dade
In West Miami-Dade, Florida, a 20-year-old man has been apprehended by law enforcement officials in the wake of a disturbing incident caught on cellphone video. According to police, this footage depicted the individual firing numerous rounds into a crowd during an illicit intersection takeover that occurred in Northwest Miami-Dade over the weekend.
The suspect in question was taken into custody several days following the sharing of the video on social media. The video captured a tumultuous scene at the intersection of Northwest 146th Street and Seventh Avenue during the early hours of Sunday.
The Chaotic Scene
In the video footage, a white Dodge Challenger was observed performing dangerous maneuvers in the intersection, eventually colliding with a parked vehicle. This collision acted as a catalyst, inciting an altercation within the crowd. It was during this chaotic moment that Trillo was seen wielding a firearm and discharging multiple rounds toward the Dodge, striking both occupants inside the vehicle, as well as a bystander.
Panic and Chaos Ensue
The sudden gunfire unleashed a wave of panic and chaos among the assembled onlookers, further escalating the dangerous situation.
Police Intervention and Medical Response
Authorities managed to intercept the Dodge on Interstate 95 in the vicinity of Northwest 95th Street. Paramedics promptly transported the injured male and female occupants of the car to Ryder Trauma Center. Meanwhile, a third victim, injured during the incident, was taken to Hialeah Hospital by a friend and later transferred to Ryder Trauma Center.
A Narrow Escape
A detective from the Miami-Dade Police Department emphasized the gravity of the situation, underscoring that multiple fatalities could have occurred in this particular case.
Criminal History
Police investigations revealed that the perpetrator has a prior criminal record. He was arrested in Palm Beach County in September of the previous year in connection with a catalytic converter theft ring. Subsequently, in January, he faced further legal trouble related to his alleged involvement in a drag racing operation and accepted a plea deal, which resulted in a five-year probationary sentence.
Charges and Detainment
The man now faces three counts of attempted murder and is currently held without bond at the Turner Guildford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade.

Authorities have noted that such “intersection takeovers” have become an ongoing issue within the community. The detective stressed the importance of collaboration between the community and law enforcement to curtail this lawless and reckless behavior.
